one of the more insightful posts by an ...rather...

one of the more insightful posts by an argentine or expat or anyone else i've read in a long time. nice to see a bit of reality making it into blogland. if an expat wrote this he'd be told to fcuk off back to his own country for daring to criticise Argentina, land of all that is perfect in the world. this country certainly has some major pluses but it also has some negatives. people need to hear both sides of the story. even better if they come from a local who is already in his own country!Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09900725715325926065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8132273.post-87626930803086570922007-01-07T11:12:00.000-03:002007-01-07T11:12:00.000-03:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09900725715325926065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8132273.post-39232428844614855112007-01-06T21:42:00.000-03:002007-01-06T21:42:00.000-03:00Hi PDF

This is an excellent and touching post.

While I am probably "enjoying" the relativity of economies, I feel more tied to this country (through my husband and his family) than those expats living the high life they couldn't afford in their own country.

The crux of the matter is that the first lesson we can learn from history is that humans do not learn from history. Hence we often see history repeating itself; a real shame that is.

Further, the Argentine middle class continues to live an insulated existence (although they are no longer "middle class" in international terms)despite the crisis. And they will continue with middle class behaviour of saving in foreign currency or moving money abroad given half a chance; all done in a bid to protect themselves from the government, the country. Now where does one begin to educate them that they are an integral part of the society which appoints the government. They are the country!

My gut instinct is to begin with education but with private schools providing a privileged and elitist education(but not necessarily in an academic sense) rather than a better education, I'm afraid our next generation might just continue to tell anyone who would listen that Argenina is the best country on earth and get offended and turn insulting if shown otherwise.

At time like this, helplessness overcomes me.miss cupcakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06210998763456566715noreply@blogger.com
